DETECTIVES: Drowning Deaths Connected

By Erik Bilstad

Click here to listen to Newsradio 620 WTMJ's John Jagler and Gene Mueller talk with former U.S. Marshall Bill Kruziki, the father of Matthew Kruziki, a drowning victim.

Two retired New York City detectives claim they have evidence linking dozens of drownings across the Midwest.  In a story first reported on KSTP television, former detectives Kevin Gannon and Anthony Duarte believe the death of University of Minnesota student Chris Jenkins in 2003 connects the cases.  Jenkins death was ruled a homicide.

The retired cops also said they discovered the word "sinsiniwa" among some graffiti written in Michigan.  That's also the name of the street where Matthew Kruziki was last seen before he disappeared in East Dubuque.

"They have a feeling there's a connection," Bill Kruziki, Matthew's father, told Newsradio 620 WTMJ.  Kruziki is a former Wisconsin U.S. Marshall.  He spent Monday in New York City, pushing the FBI to get involved in the cases.

Gannon and Duarte appeared on ABC's Good Morning America Monday to present some of their findings.  Kruziki plans to meet with them.

"Hopefully it'll shed some light on what happened to my son," Kruziki said.
