MILWAUKEE - Manpower is out with its latest quarterly outlook for hiring in our area.

"Employers in the Milwaukee area expect to hire at a respectable pace in the first quarter (of 2013)," said Melanie Holmes with Manpower.

She told Newsradio 620 WTMJ's Jodi Becker that 19 percent of companies surveyed in the Milwaukee area plan to hire, while 13 percent expect to reduce staff.

Another 67 percent say they'll stay the same, and 1 percent weren't sure.

"Hiring activity was expected to decrease in the 1st quarter compared to the 4th quarter of this year, and employers expect stable employment prospects compared to one year ago," said Holmes.

Nationwide, 17 percent of employers surveyed said they planned to hire early in 2013 ,while 8 percent said they plan to let people go.
