Charges possible after UWM dorm death
MILWAUKEE - Prosecutors in Milwaukee County are weighing possible charges against a UW Milwaukee student following an apparent drug overdose death.
According to a report from the medical examiner, police were called to the student's dorm room Monday night.
The 19-year-old freshman told authorities his friend was unresponsive.
The report states Tom Stanczyk, 56, of Watertown was found sitting at a desk and was pronounced dead.
It noted drug paraphernalia was found on the desk.
According to a statement from the university, "UWM Police determined there was sufficient information to arrest the freshman on suspicion of reckless homicide and failure to render aid. It is not believed that any other UWM student was involved or at risk during this incident. The investigation is continuing."
