Racine woman arrested for hit-and-run crash
WATERFORD - A Racine woman is in custody for a hit-and-run involving a 13-year-old boy.
We're told he's been upgraded to stable condition at Children's Hospital in Wauwatosa. The incident happened shortly after a holiday parade Saturday night in the Town of Waterford. Police say Jacquelyn Esser was drunk when she hit the boy.
The victim's friend, Jacob Czaplewski, saw the whole thing happen.
"I heard a loud bang and I turned to look and the kid was lying on the ground, so I came up and I realized it was one of my good friends," Czaplewski says.
"[The truck then] backed up, went around the boy and drove away."
Esser was arrested a short time later.
