Doctors keep an eye on strep throat
MILWAUKEE - The cold and flu season is moving forward and health officials have their eyes on a number of illnesses.
Doctors are watching trends in ear infections and strep throat.
Pertussis, also known as whopping cough, is on the radar.
Through October, Milwaukee had 202 cases. The typical average in one year is 30 to 50.
Health officials say hand washing is the best defense against illness. They recommend pneumonia shots for people over the age of 55.
