MILWAUKEE - What has become known as Small Business Saturday is catching on.

While President Obama made a quick trip to a Virginia bookstore with his daughters, shoppers were out in Milwaukee's Third Ward.

It's a nationwide effort, created by American Express three years ago,  to encourage shoppers to patronize mom-and-pop style businesses.

Small Business Saturday is a win-win for the local economy, especially when you look at stores like "Indulgence Chocolatiers" in Shorewood.

Besides being a small business, the owner, Julie Waterman, says her chocolate is made from ingredients that are also purchased right here, like Von Freize and Sassy Cow Creamery for dairy products.

Today's TMJ4's Todd Hicks has more.
