Stores Pulling Plastic Bottles Due To Dangerous Chemical

By Vicky Hollowell and Jay Sorgi

New mothers should know about a chemical found in plastic baby bottles that could be potentially harmful, bottles that stores are pulling off their shelves.

The chemical's called Bisphenol A, or BPA, and researchers are concerned that it could lead to cancer or other health risks in children.

The chemical is exposed at higher levels when bottles are heated up.

Beth Wagner went out and bought new bottles when she found out about the risk.

"I can't throw everything out in my house, but there's some steps that I can take to make it better for my baby," said Wagner.

You can look on the bottom of the bottles to check for BPA.

Bottles with numbers 3, 6, or 7 are at risk.

Stores, including CVS and Toys R Us, have chosen to take some plastic bottles off their shelves.
