Campaign targets underage drinkers at deer camp
PESHTIGO, Wis. -- As the Wisconsin gun deer hunt gets under way, a dedicated group in northeastern Wisconsin has launched a campaign to make sure juveniles at deer camp aren't drinking alcohol.
Members of the Healthy Youth Coalition are using bright yellow stickers to warn adults not to buy alcohol for those who are under age. The coalition is sticking the warnings on beer containers at stores around Marinette County and Menominee County, Mich.
Coalition member Sarah Hanson says the hunting season includes cabin parties or perhaps a celebration over a first buck. The sticker reminds those purchasing alcohol that buying it for someone underage can mean a $500 fine.
WLUK-TV says coalition members have placed 2,200 stickers on alcohol in Marinette County alone.
