Brewers, charitable arm raise $3.5 million
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The Milwaukee Brewers and its charitable arm have raised more than $3.5 million during the 2012 season.
The club and the Brewers Community Foundation raised the money through a number of events and efforts, including the 5K Famous Racing Sausages Run/Walk, the Brewers Mini-Marathon and An Evening with Hank Aaron.
It also includes the game day 50/50 Raffle, which reached $1.6 million in total revenue.
The foundation's executive director, Cecelia Gore, says the money helps support critical issues in the Milwaukee area.
Some of the previous non-profit programs supported by the foundation include the Boys & Girls Club, Hunger Task Force, Make-a-Wish and Sojourner Family Peace Center.
Last year, the foundation and the team raised $3.2 million.
