State returning millions of dollars to people owed money

MILWAUKEE- The state gave away $500,000 Tuesday. There's more out there, and some of it could be yours.
All it takes is a few minutes and hundreds, even thousands, of dollars could come back to you -- money you may not know you're supposed to have.
Diane Hosking of Waukesha checked the state treasurer's website on a whim. If there was money to be found, she figured it was worth a shot.
"I checked it and I found that I had money sitting there, a little over $600."
The proud grandmother is one of many Wisconsinites getting a big payday. One guy's check tops a whopping $100,000. The money can come from a lot of things like forgotten paychecks or insurance overpayments. Hosking says her money came from a refund on a car she traded in back in 2003.
If there's money heading your way, Hosking tells TODAY'S TMJ4 it's easy to get the ball rolling.
"You answer the questions and it fills out the form for you, you print it out," explains Hosking.
You prove your address and mail it in. The only thing left to do is figure out how you'll spend it.
"Well, I have 25 grandchildren and hopefully I'll get it before Christmas and it will go to good use."
