Arrests after burglary at MPD officer's home
MILWAUKEE - Authorities have taken two suspects into custody after shots were fired during a burglary inside a home that belongs to a Milwaukee Police detective.
A Milwaukee Police spokesperson says that no one was shot.
The off-duty detective discovered two suspects inside the home on Milwaukee's southwest side at about 6:00 p.m. Monday. He went home and found a side door open.
According to the spokesperson, one suspect looked out the front door, then moved away.
Another suspect left a side door and looked out a screen door with a gun in his hand.
The detective found that suspect in process of pointing the gun at him, and the detective fired shots.
That suspect ran through a backyard.
Authorities found a third suspect in the basement and arrested that suspect. A second suspect was arrested a short time later.
The detective is 44 years old, has 16 years of experience with the force, and serves the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
"I think they had what they had coming to them," said a neighbor about the burglars.
