Drunk wrong-way driver travels 15 miles on I-94
MILWAUKEE -- Yet another wrong way driver is arrested.
Milwaukee County Sheriff's Deputies say a 21-year-old man from Waukesha drove south in the northbound lanes of I-94 for more than 15 miles early Saturday morning.
The first report was near the Marquette Interchange. The driver made it south of the Milwaukee-Racine County line before turning around and heading northbound.
At one point, a sheriff's deputy drove parallel to the wrong-way driver. The deputy shined a light into the suspect's car and tried unsuccessfully to get the driver's attention.
Deputies were finally able to stop the car near College Avenue.
Preliminary tests showed the suspect had a blood-alcohol level of 0.18.
The sheriff's office is asking for charges of first offense drunken driving and recklessly endangering safety.
