Suspect dead in police-involved shooting in Madison

MADISON - Police shot and killed a suspect after a confrontation in Madison early Friday.

According to the Madison Police web site, the initial incident that led to the shooting happened at about 2:45 a.m.

Police said that a burglary was happening on the 500 block of South Baldwin Street.

During what police called a "physical confrontation" between an officer and the suspect, the officer shot the alleged burglar.

The victim is in his 30's.  Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene.

No one else was hurt.
