MILWAUKEE- Milwaukee police are asking for the public's help in identifying a young black man who allegedly punched an elderly shopkeeper on the city's north side.

Police say surveillance video shows the suspect attempted to shoplift at a store at 4295 N. Teutonia Ave. at 10:31 p.m. on October 24.  The shopkeeper, 71, tried locking the entrance/exit door on the suspect, preventing him from leaving.  The suspect put the shoplifted item back on the shelf then left.

As the shopkeeper tried to relock the door, the suspect returned and forced his way in and struck the elderly man.

The suspect is described as a black man, around 18-to 20-years-old and was seen in the video wearing a black t-shirt with white writing on it, red basketball pants and black shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Milwaukee police at 414-935-7360.
