Packers' Woodson to give $100k to Red Cross for Sandy relief
GREEN BAY - Packers defensive back Charles Woodson announced that he will give a major gift to a charity to help in the relief effort for Hurricane Sandy.
At a campaign event for President Barack Obama, Woodson said he would give $100,000 to the American Red Cross.
He says he's grateful for the sense of community that allowed the Packers to thrive in Green Bay, and he wants to give back to other similar communities that are hurting.
Woodson's philanthropy is well noted.
He has given gifts of as large as $2 million for various charitable efforts, including a gift that size for a cancer research center at his alma mater, the University of Michigan.
