MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Police Department says that an officer has been seriously injured after a crash on the city's north side.

At least one woman was transported to a local hospital as well.  Milwaukee Police say that two people in a minivan were injured and transported.

The crash happened about 11:00 a.m. Monday, a few blocks from the corner of North Richards Street and West Capitol Drive.

Witnesses tell TODAY'S TMJ4 that a woman driving a van tried to pull into a local clinic, and a squad car may have tried to pass the van.

Police said that the squad and minivan collided.  There were reports of a second minivan that may have been involved, but police did not offer initial confirmation.

"I proceeded to go by the cop car and help pry the door open...I saw (the officer) was bloody...his head was smashed," said one witness to TODAY'S TMJ4's Cody Holyoke.

TODAY'S TMJ4 video shows three ambulances heading from the scene, with one escorted by police.
