OAK CREEK - Oak Creek Police Lieutenant Brian Murphy is a walking miracle.
He was shot more than 10 times in the Sikh temple massacre.
"I got shot in the back of the head," Lieutenant Murphy says. "I got shot in the right arm once, left arm three times, my right leg once and my left leg, I think, twice. My right hand once and my left hand two times."
It was a quiet Sunday morning August 5th when a gunman stormed temple grounds in Oak Creek.
Lieutenant Murphy was the first officer on the scene and almost immediately spotted a shooting victim.
As he rushed to help that person, dash camera video shows Wade Michael Page running up to Murphy and opening fire, nearly at point blank rage.
"He shot, I shot," Lieutenant Murphy says.
"That's when he shot me in the back of the head. I had actually thought, 'When is enough enough?'"
But, gunman Wade Michael Page would not stop as Murphy became caught in a hail of bullets.
"The shots continue, I went down," Lieutenant Murphy says. "I kind of drifted for a second."
The shooting at the temple finally came to an end, when Oak Creek Police officer Sam Lenda shot page. By then, six members of the Sikh community were dead or mortally wounded. As he lay critically wounded in the parking lot, Lieutenant Murphy vowed he would live.
"Then I just realized, I'm not going out like this," Lieutenant Murphy says. "I am not going out in a parking lot."
