Packers' Jennings to have surgery
GREEN BAY - Greg Jennings will have surgery next week to repair a Rectus Abdominal Tear. He chose the operation over continuing to rehab his injured groin.
Jennings sought a second opinion on the groin injury he suffered in week 1against the 49ers and says Doctor William Meyers out of Philadelphia explained what his injury compares to.
"The way he described it to me was simply two people pulling on a rope and it starts to fray," Jennings said.
Jennings has appeared in only three games this season, but hopes to return to the team before the year is out.
"I don't want to give timetables, I just want to let my body tell me when I'll be back."
"He has to do what he has to do to get his body back," said Randall Cobb. "He knows what's important for him. It's gonna be tough to see him down but [it's up to the] next guy up."
The injury comes at an inopportune time for Jennings, who will be eligible for free agency at the end of the 2012 season. Something he has prepared himself for.
"It's kinda like a game of chess, you know," Jennings said. "You have to strategically know your next move, but hopefully I've put on film that I'm able to make plays and showcase my talents. That will take care of itself when the time comes."
