McGee Earning Salary While Behind Bars

By Jay Sorgi

Milwaukee Alderman Michael McGee, Jr. has been taking in taxpayer cash as he sits in the can.

While behind bars, McGee has made $67,000 in salary from taxpayers, including a $3,000 travel allowance which he couldn't touch while in jail or even before, since he couldn't legally drive.

The Journal Sentinel says McGee will also take in a $7,900 pension every year when he turns 60.

McGee faces federal and state charges for allegations of shakedowns of business owners in his district, vote buying and conspiracy in a beating attack.

McGee's term as alderman of the sixth district ends Monday after he lost in the general election last week.
