Children rescued from house fire

MILWAUKEE -- Two children were rescued by firefighters from an early morning house fire on Milwaukee's south side
The Milwaukee Fire Department reports the fire started on the first floor of a 2 1/2 story unit. There were no smoke detectors on the first floor.
Nine children were in the house total. Three were on the first floor; 6 on the second floor. No adults were present at the time of the fire. No one was injured.
Both Milwaukee Police and the Bureau of Child Welfare were called in to investigate the situation.
