Teen hit by train in Pleasant Prairie
PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. - A 16 year old boy is hospitalized after being hit by a train Friday morning.
Pleasant Prairie police maintain it appears the teen may have not heard the train, since he was wearing headphones as he walked in the center of the tracks near Highway 50 around 7:10am.
Police claim the engineer engaged the train's warning siren several times.
The teen was transported by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital. His condition has not been released, but police believe he was conscious and alert at the scene of the accident.
It's unclear why the boy was walking on the tracks.
Police indicate a trailer park and some apartments are in the area, but say the tracks do not really provide a short cut.
