Kavanaugh convicted of stealing over $51,000 from veterans
MILWAUKEE - A Milwaukee County jury has convicted a former appointee of then-Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker, according to a Journal Sentinel report.
Prosecutors alleged that Kevin Kavanaugh, 62, stole more than $51,000 from money donated to help veterans and their families. Kavanaugh was accused of taking the money from accounts for the local chapter of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, a veterans service organization.
The newspaper also reports that Kavanaugh didn't testify at the trial and said nothing following the verdict. Kavanaugh, who had no prior criminal record, faces up to 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.
Sentencing on the felony conviction has been set for Dec. 7 at 8:30 a.m., according to online court records.
