College students await start of Paul Ryan-Joe Biden VP debate
DANVILLE, KY- Paul Ryan and Joe Biden are just hours away from their debate in Kentucky tonight.
One college student from Wisconsin can't wait for Thursday's 90-minute debate on domestic and foreign policy issues.
Centre College student Matt Cantrell is from Mount Horeb, Wisconsin. The conservative freshman says he will be watching the debate closely.
"I hope they talk about the fiscal cliff," says Cantrell.
TODAY'S TMJ4's Charles Benson: "Could what they (the VP candidates) say change your mind?"
Matt Cantrell: "Probably not."
But maybe junior Hallie Boyd will change some minds. She will be all the over Twitter during the debate.
"My goal is to get as many pictures as I can and get that out to Twitter, hash tag VP debate," says Boyd.
Google is also on Centre College campus. It will be monitoring not only what people are saying about the debate -- but what are the hot topics people are searching. They've already noticed one search trend in Wisconsin.
"With Wisconsin, it's in the top five, in fact it's number four in terms of people searching for tax cuts which has been a very popular search term," says Daniel Sieberg of Google Politics.
When it comes to searching information, guess which state leads in searches for Paul Ryan? Wisconsin is number one and Joe Biden is number three in Wisconsin.
"We see that search interest in Paul Ryan on average is much higher than the vice president," says Sieberg.
You can catch the debate live at 8:00 p.m. on Newsradio 620 WTMJ and TODAY'S TMJ4, along with a link to live streaming video on both 620wtmj.com and todaystmj4.com.
Our Charles Benson is in Danville, Kentucky to cover the debate, and will provide coverage all day on TODAY'S TMJ4 and Newsradio 620 WTMJ.
