MPD steps up officer security after threats over Derek Williams case
MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Police Department is taking extra security measures following threats against the department in response to the Derek Williams case.
The department won't confirm the information.
A spokeswoman tells Newsradio 620 WTMJ that the department cannot and will not discuss deployment strategies.
We're told the department has, however, made changes to the manner it is deploying officers in an effort to keep those officers safe.
Williams is the man who died in Milwaukee Police custody last year while officers did nothing to answer his cries for help.
A video of the incident recently released has sparked outrage in the community.
