Man killed, several injured in Atkinson Park shooting
MILWAUKEE - Neighbors are on edge a day after a deadly shooting in Milwaukee.
The 22-year-old was playing basketball with friends at Atkinson Park near 9th and Nash when someone started shooting Saturday night.
Alexander Cross died on the court. His cousin was among the others shot.
Sunday, Alexander's younger brother found comfort in the group of friends and family gathered to pay their respects.
Alexander's aunt describes him as a young man with a bright future, a high school graduate and a family man.
"We're not understanding what happened," Minnie Cross says. "He worked two jobs. He's a taxpayer, you understand what I'm saying? Taxpayer and he had to be
killed like this. He didn't deserve this."
Alexander's cousin didn't want to go on camera, but he tells TODAY'S TMJ4 he thinks gang members are responsible for the shooting.
He says he heard someone say 'stand down' before he was shot in the arm.
Milwaukee Police are still investigating.
