Two MPD officers tied to Derek Williams arrest connected to illegal strip searches
MILWAUKEE- Two Milwaukee police officers connected to Derek Williams' death in police custody last year have been tied to the illegal strip search investigation, according to a Journal Sentinel investigation.
The newspaper reports that Milwaukee police officers Jeffrey Cline -- who told Williams "You're breathing just fine" while Williams struggled to breathe -- and Gregory Kuspa have been named in police reports connected to both investigations.
The Milwaukee County medical examiner recently changed the cause of death in Williams' case from natural causes to homicide -- which reopened the investigation into Williams' death.
"Because other people were involved it technically fits our definition of homicide as death by the hands of others," explained Dr. Brian Peterson, the Milwaukee County medical examiner.
On Thursday night, hundreds of people gathered on the northwest side -- calling for Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn to resign.
