Milwaukee Police have arrested a suspect this morning in relation to an officer involved shooting on Milwaukee's North Side Sunday afternoon.
Police Department spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz said the shooting happened near 17th and Hadley when police responded to a call of shots being fired in the area.
When the officers spotted the suspect, he turned and pointed an assault rifle at them. One of the officers fired, and the suspect dropped the weapon and ran away.
A 17-year-old male has been arrested in connection with the incident. Schwartz said police are currently looking for other suspects believed to be involved in the incident, but no other arrests have been made.
Schwartz said the officers were not shot in the incident, and the suspect did not fire his weapon at the officers.
The suspect is currently under arrest at a local hospital where he is receiving treatment for a gunshot wound not related to Sunday's shooting. The injury is not believed to be life threatening.
