Parts of Jefferson, Kenosha, and Rock Counties are under a flood warning as rivers continue to rise. All of southeastern Wisconsin will be under a flood watch from early Monday morning until late Monday night.
"When my backyard's not flooded, it's a beautiful place to be in the summertime," said Victor Conkle, who has lived in his Jefferson County home for more than 20 years.
Ryan Huber, who lives near the Rock River, agrees.
"Living near the river, you take the good with the bad," he said. "This is about the highest I've seen it since I've lived here about three years."
As a near-record snowfall melts, Jefferson County has bought about 30 homes in the worst areas of the flood plane.
"I feel sorry for everyone that's got stuff and they get flooded out," Conkle said. "But they don't move out. They stay. There's probably been fifteen homes that have sold out down here so far on the account floods. But the rest of them say we ain't moving."
