Wrigley: "Miller Park South"

By Jay Sorgi

Click here to listen to Newsradio 620 WTMJ's Jay Sorgi report on the best ways to enjoy Chicago, Wrigley Field and the Brewers-Cubs 2008 season opener.

"Sweet Home Chicago," though a great song title, doesn't describe what's normally the sweetest place for the Brewers to start their 2008 campaign.

Normally not a sweet thought for Brewers fans who get inundated by Cubs fans when they come up here.

So instead, how about putting a few Cheeseheads in the friendly confines during Milwaukee's first game on its run to the 2008 World Series?

We have the ultimate guide to making Wrigley Field feel more like Miller Park, or at least a guide to help you enjoy your experience the Second City.

As long as you root the Brewers into first and the Cubs into, at best, second place.

Getting Tickets
and Getting There

Tickets aren't massively plentiful, but you have plenty of options for finding them.

Transportation isn't easy, and we'd never recommend driving and parking near Wrigley.  You have to take out a mortgage for a spot in a nearby parking lot.

Tickets:
Stubhub or Wrigley Field Premium Tickets

Transport:
Amtrak (if going solo)
Car, then the El Train "Red Line" (if with friends)

Try the bleachers, but bring your layers, like an extra jacket or sweatshirt, along with a thick skin for the usually good-natured ribbing you'll get in the stands.

With the 21+ Crowd

There's no tailgating in the parking lots around Wrigley and no Milwaukee beer products inside the stadium, so you'll have to hit a nearby pub for your Miller Lite.

Recommendation

Three particular north side Chicago bars claim to follow Wisconsin sports: Will's Northwoods, Waterhouse Tavern and Grill and the Schoolyard Tavern.

We also recommend ending your night at the ultimate place for Chicago blues, especially after Chicago turns blue with a Brewers win.
