Two former Homestead H.S. students take plea deal in sex assault case
MEQUON- Two former Homestead High School students accused of sexual assaulting a 14-year-old girl inside the school last year are accepting a plea deal in the case.
Online court records said that Brent P. Anderson and Deangelo D. Dantzler pleaded no contest to Child Abuse-Recklessly Cause Harm, a felony, on Wednesday.
The two were originally charged with second-degree sexual assault of a child.
Anderson and Dantzler were accused of supplying the teen with alcohol at the school after hours, then taking her to an unlocked music room and sexually assaulting her back in November. The criminal complaint alleged the sex wasn't forced, but the victim's father insists his daughter was forced.
Dantzler and Anderson will be sentenced in November. They face a maximum of 3 1/2 years in prison.
Meanwhile, the girl, now 15-years-old, her brother and father have filed a federal lawsuit against: Dantzler, Anderson, the Mequon-Thiensville School District, Dr. Demond Means -- the Superintendent of Mequon-Thiensville School District, and Brett Bowers -- principal of Homestead High School.
The lawsuit accuses the school district and officials of failure to protect or warn, negligent supervision, negligent infliction of emotional distress, retaliation, hostile environment and violation of common law duty to protect.
The lawsuit claims that Homestead High School knew about the sex between the students and "was deliberately indifferent to this misconduct."
It claims assault and battery against Dantzler and Anderson.
