MADISON, Wis. - An attorney involved in the collective bargaining case thinks an appeal to Dane County Circuit Judge Juan Colas' ruling will come quickly, and likely from more than one source.
Lester Pines, who represents the Madison teachers union, told reporters at a Saturday news conference, that a number of new parties may step forward in the appeals process.
He says he expects various people and groups to file friend-of-the-court briefs.
Court filings could come as soon as Monday.
On Friday, a Dane County judge struck down Act 10, the collective bargaining law, throwing out many of its provisions that limit collective bargaining by public workers.
The ruling opens a host of areas which unions may now bargain over, with the exception of paying more for their pensions and health care.
Pines says the earliest he expects the appeals court would make a decision would be four months.
