Woman dead, son and exchange student in critical condition after Greenfield crash
GREENFIELD - Greenfield Police say that a woman from Vilas County has passed away after a weekend crash.
Diane Chart, 51, died shortly after the crash. She was from Winchester, Wis.
Her passengers, a 19-year-old student from Argentina and her 15-year-old son, were both in critical condition on Monday.
The crash happened at 5:10 p.m. Saturday at the corner of South 27th Street and West Coldspring Road. Chart died about four hours after the crash.
The 19-year-old exchange student, Tomas Sarvi, is listed in critical condition at Froedtert Hospital. Chart's 15-year-old son is listed in critical but stable condition at Children's Hospital.
According to initial information, police say that Chart's car was going north on 27th Street when it turned in front of a truck going southbound in the intersection.
Officials say, based on preliminary information, that the truck had the right-of-way.
The crash led to a traffic signal falling into the intersection and striking a third vehicle.
