Young child wandering near MATC campus found partially naked
WEST ALLIS- A child was found wandering near the MATC campus in West Allis Thursday morning, with her mother and father nowhere to be found.
That child was located at W. Washington St. and S. 72nd St. wearing only a shirt.
Chawona Jackson found the little girl wandering around outside.
Jackson was headed to MATC when she spotted the girl across the street. She appeared to be about two or three-year-old. Jackson talked to the girl to find out what was going on.
"She said 'my name is Sara,' I said where do you live? And she said 'I don't know,' said Jackson to TODAY'S TMJ4.
Jackson flagged down a city worker who put the missing girl in her car and covered her up. Then she called 9-1-1.
While police tried to figure out who that little girl was, Chawona went door-to-door asking if they knew who the child was.
It turns out, the girl lives several blocks away from where Jackson found her. And police told TODAY'S TMJ4 the exact same thing happened a few months ago.
"We have the child here with the bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare right now, they'll be investigating," said West Allis Police Deputy Chief Charles Padgett.
Jackson said the beautiful little girl was the only one who didn't know something was wrong.
"She continued to be happy and just as jolly as can be," explained Jackson.
Police told TODAY'S TMJ4 that child welfare will decide if and when this child is returned to her mother.
