MILWAUKEE- Around 2 a.m. Tuesday August 28, three men attacked 70-year-old Carl Slaski as he returned to his house near S. Muskego Ave. and W. Grant St. on Milwaukee's south side.

Just as Slaski got out of his parked car, police say the men attacked.

"He was laying his back and blood was coming from back of his head," explained Matt Albert.

Albert pulled into his driveway to find Slaski severely injured. "He broke his jaw and had lacerations to the back of his head," said Albert.

The men reportedly beat Slaski for five minutes, robbed him of $130 and then stole his car -- leaving him for dead on the curb.  To make matter worse, Slaski's wife watched the brutal attack from the front porch.

"She was hysterical and I can't imagine what could she do," said Albert.

Albert said he stayed with Slaski and his wife until help arrived.  Milwaukee police found the stolen car the next morning but the trio has not been found.

Slaski underwent surgery Thursday morning.  He needed five staples to the head, suffered a broken cheek bone and fractured eye socket.

Slaski's family says they want the men caught before they hurt someone else.
