Escaped Milwaukee County Huber inmate turns himself in
MILWAUKEE - A Milwaukee County Jail inmate with Huber release privileges that fled from custody after allegedly attacking his girlfriend has turned himself in, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's office.
Ronald White, 29, escaped custody Wednesday night, and turned himself into authorities around 2:45 p.m. Thursday -- several hours after the Milwaukee County Sheriff's office issued a news release about his escape.
White was in custody after being convicted of operating a vehicle after license revocation and drunk driving. He had been granted Huber release to attend alcohol or drug counseling.
"I question the wisdom of why a convicted inmate has to be released to get alcohol and drug treatment," Milwaukee County Sheriff Clarke said in a news release. "That treatment is administered in house as an inmate program. There's no need to allow a Huber excuse for AODA counseling."
"The best place for him to get the treatment and keep the public safe--both of these are achievable--is to keep him locked up to serve his sentence while getting the treatment he needs."
