MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A block of cheddar cheese that was made two years before Robin Yount signed on as a Milwaukee Brewer was recently discovered hidden away at an Oconto cheese shop.

Seventy-three-year-old Edward Zahn found several wooden boxes of cheddar cheese buried in the back of his walk-in cooler before Z's Cheese Shoppe closed for good last month.

Experts say Zahn's overlooked cheddar is likely the oldest collection of cheese ever assembled and sold to the public.

When Ken McNulty, president of Wisconsin Cheese Mart, heard about the discovery, he bought the 40-year-old cheese sight unseen.

McNulty plans to feature it in a cheese tasting event at his store in downtown Milwaukee Oct. 6.

The State Journal (http://tinyurl.com/c7os9kl ) says McNulty plans to sell the unique cheese by the ounce, so more people can try it.
