BURLINGTON- A Walworth County man is in jail after a deputy shot him during a chase Friday.
The suspect is accused of leading authorities on a high speed chase after a bank robbery.
Police arrested a 29-year-old man for robbing the Peoples Bank north of Elkhorn. But after the armed bank robbery, the suspect is accused of trying to run down Walworth County Sheriff's Deputy Dan Nichols with his Volkswagen Jetta. Nichols fired at the Volkswagen, hitting the suspect.
George Mitchell is a neighbor of the suspect and told TODAY'S TMJ4 this alleged crime reflects poorly on the City of Burlington.
"Not good, not good for the neighborhood," said Mitchell.
Charges are pending against the suspect.
