SHOREWOOD- Shorewood's Police Department has confirmed to TODAY'S TMJ4 that a man has been arrested for threatening to blow up an apartment complex in the 1700 block of River Park Court.

Shorewood police told TODAY'S TMJ4's Annie Scholz the suspect said he put a bomb in each of the two apartment buildings at River Park Apartments Monday afternoon.

The suspect was arrested after he watched authorities evacuate people out of the two buildings.

"We really believe he acted alone," said Shorewood Police Chief David Banaszynski at a news conference Monday afternoon.  "He made a bomb threat...because he was mad at the people (at the complex)."

Banaszynski said the suspect never lived in the apartment complex, but squatted with the people who lived in the complex.

The suspect was apparently intoxicated at the time of the arrest.

Around 600 people were evacuated from the apartment complex near N. Oakland Ave. and E. Edgewood Ave.  Milwaukee County buses moved some of the displaced residents to Shorewood High School during the evacuation.

Banaszynski said the evacuation was tough because they had to help out several elderly, disabled and non-English speaking residents.
