TOWN OF SOMERS- A local firefighter is accused of sexually assaulting someone he was supposed to be helping.

The suspect is accused of groping a teenage girl.  It allegedly happened while the girl was in an ambulance in Racine.

Somers Fire & Rescue Department Capt. Jodin Froeber is accused of molesting the 17-year-old on her way to the hospital after suffering a seizure in July.

The girl told investigators she was conscious, but unable to open her eyes or move.  She had been given medication after seizing.

Froeber was the only caregiver in the back of the ambulance.

The ambulance driver told investigators he saw Froeber moving around, but couldn't see anything specific.

Froeber has been placed on paid administrative leave.

Froeber is charged with second-degree sexual assault.  It carries a maximum penalty of 40 years in prison.

His attorney told TODAY'S TMJ4 that Froeber absolutely denies the allegations, and that he has no prior allegations of improper conduct against him.

Froeber is a 13-year veteran of the Kenosha County town's fire department.
