MILWAUKEE - About 6,300 We Energies customers lost power Thursday morning after storms came through the area.

A spokesperson said that about 2,400 customers lost power at around 8:15 a.m. Thursday.  The outage was centered around North 92nd and West Michigan Streets.

"We (had) about 1,600 customers on Milwaukee's northwest side that were affected by the lightning, as well as some tree damage coming in contact with our wires," said spokesman Barry McNulty to Newsradio 620 WTMJ's Jay Sorgi.

He said a tree branch came in contact with wires there.  Crews restored power there by 8:30 a.m.

"In the Elkhart Lake area, in the Town of Rhine, we (had) about 2,300 customers that are out."

McNulty explained that power was restored there, too.
