PEWAUKEE- Madison businessman Eric Hovde will gather with supporters at the Pewaukee Marriott in hopes of winning the Republican U.S. Senate primary.

Hovde told TODAY'S TMJ4 he is confident he will win Tuesday's primary.

Those close to Hovde believe he will win, and that it will be a shock to the Republican Party establishment that is counting on a Thompson victory.

Hovde, a political newcomer, cast his ballot near his Madison area home early Tuesday morning.

"Really feel a lot of positive momentum," said Hovde to TODAY'S TMJ4.

TODAY'S TMJ4 first met the first-time candidate and his wife at Irina's Kitchen -- a mom and pop diner in Glendale.  Hovde is a banking and real estate entrepreneur by trade.

"I will say I have found that in the world of politics, there is so much hypocrisy, political hyperbole, pettiness involved, that kind of shocked me," said Hovde.  "In the world of business, if you ever engaged the way they do in politics, you would never be successful."

Polls will remain open until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.
