Oak Creek shooting
Ex-girlfriend of Sikh temple shooter arrested for illegally possessing firearm
SOUTH MILWAUKEE- The FBI confirms police arrested Wade Page's ex-girlfriend Misty Cook on Sunday. She was allegedly in possession of a gun, which would be illegal because she is a felon.
Federal investigators have been to her South Milwaukee home several times since Sunday's shooting.
They don't believe Cook is connected to the shooting but federal officials continue to look for possible co-conspirators.
"It's very unsettling." said Kelly Templin.
She lives two doors down but never really talked to the couple. She says the FBI knocked on her door too.
"I spoke to them (Monday) morning. They asked about about my interactions with them. "
It appears Cook and Page shared more than an apartment.
The Anti-Defamation League claims Cook was also involved with a white supremacist group. We already know Page was very active in the seedy subculture of skinheads, according to law enforcement.
Cook emailed a brief statement about the shooting to the Journal Sentinel, saying:
"If I could say something to ease the pain of the victims and their families I would gladly do so. Unfortunately words do not begin to heal the pain they are going through.
The FBI has been working around the clock processing the crime scene in Oak Creek. Federal officials still believe Page acted alone but they continue to search for answers and a possible motive.
"I don't know if we will ever know what someone's motivations are often," said Oak Creek Mayor Steve Scaffidi. "That sometimes dies with the person that does the tragic work."
Federal officials are expected to hold a news conference Wednesday morning to update the investigation.
TODAY'S TMJ4 was told not to expect any new or major developments from that news conference.
