Campbellsport family happy young girl recovering, teen charged for firing arrow
CAMPBELLSPORT- A big new development in the case of the little girl shot by an arrow.
The teenager who admitted firing the arrow that hit seven-year old Aryanna Schneeberg will be charged as an adult.
The Schneebergs told TODAY'S TMJ4 they're happy about the charges. They think it's the right call, but most of all, they're happy little Aryanna is on the road to recovery.
Aryanna Schneeberg has come a long way since she was shot with an arrow while walking down Main Street in May. The emotional scars are still there, but the physical ones are healing.
"She's getting a little bit better though, she'll actually wear a bikini swimming now," said Aryanna's mother Laura Schneeberg.
TODAY'S TMJ4's Annie Scholz sat down with the Schneebergs at their home Friday night, as 16-year-old Casey Bennett was charged as an adult for shooting the arrow that hit Aryanna.
"I'm happy that the district attorney was able to get him into adult court," said Laura Schneeberg.
The Schneebergs said it's still tough to make it through the stretch of Main Street where it happened, but it's the people they meet in town and the support they still get that makes it bearable.
"We really appreciate all the support from the community, even outside of the community, all over the place," said Laura Schneeberg.
Casey Bennett faces a maximum of over 13 years behind bars.
As for Aryanna, her recovery continues.
She'll follow up with a surgeon in a year to see if they can minimize her scarring.
