Homemade chemical bombs found in Kenosha County
TOWN OF SALEM- Neighbors in Kenosha County are concerned after a cluster of homemade chemical bombs were found in the Town of Salem.
The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department found a handful of those homemade bombs earlier this week in the 24600 block of 87th Street.
A couple of them were found at an apartment complex and now the sheriff's department is asking everyone to be on the lookout.
Beverly Randle's daughter and grandson live in one of the apartment complexes where these homemade bombs have been found.
"My daughter has been really cautious with her family of not coming out after dark," said Randle to TODAY'S TMJ4.
The sheriff's department explains these bombs are made from two liter bottles and aluminum, and say teens are likely responsible.
"What we call chemical bombs. They are more affectionately called 'McGyver bombs' from the old TV show 'McGyver,'" said Kenosha County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Horace Staples.
One resident told the sheriff's department that she heard something at her window, and when she came out, she smelled gas.
So far no damage has been done, and the sheriff's department wants to keep it that way.
"They are dangerous, so if you do come into contact with a chemical bomb that has not exploded call the sheriff's department," announced Staples.
The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department is asking that if you've seen or heard anything about these homemade bombs, to give them a call at (262) 656-7333.
