New convention center naming rights deal to be announced

MILWAUKEE - The Frontier Airlines Convention Center could soon have a new name.

"We have worked out a successor naming rights sponsor for the convention center," Wisconsin Center District Board Chairman Franklyn Gimbel confirmed to me.  "Needless to say we're very happy."

The Frontier Airlines contract expires in June 2013. 

"The new entity will pick up the last year of that contract," Gimbel explained.  "We're still in talks with them about taking on another 5-year (deal)."

The new deal, first reported by the Business Journal Serving Greater Milwaukee, is expected to be announced within the next two weeks, Gimbel said.
