Pedestrian struck, killed in West Allis crash identified
WEST ALLIS- West Allis police have identified a 47-year-old man ran over by a minivan Tuesday.
Investigators believe the minivan hit Lonnie L. Dodge as he tried to cross the street near 70th and Greenfield, then dragged him a block before stopping.
No arrests have been made as of Wednesday evening; alcohol consumption by the driver does not appear to be a factor, said West Allis police.
Douglas Cocroft works nearby and heard the accident.
"I stepped outside when I heard this screeching sound, I turned around and saw the cops coming," said Cocroft.
The crash is still under investigation. Police say the driver cooperated with authorities following the crash.
There's no indication if something distracted the driver.
