WAUKESHA - The Wisconsin State Patrol arrested a 39-year-old Greendale woman for drunk driving with six kids in her car.
A trooper clocked the woman going 81 miles per hour on I-94 near Barker Road in Waukesha County at 1:00 Sunday morning. The woman swerved into another lane and nearly struck another vehicle before the traffic stop, according to a news release.
The six children are said to be a 7-year-old girl, 9-year-old girl, 10-year-old girl, 10-year-old boy, 12-year-old girl and 15-year-old boy. Two children were found asleep on the floorboard next to the backseat without seat belts.
The woman was driving a 2011 Honda Accord.
"In my opinion, she was dangerously impaired," Trooper David Hanson said.
"The combination of factors, the speed, the lane deviation, the level of intoxication, the number of minors in the vehicle, the fact that not all of them were restrained."
It is unclear if any of the kids involved are the driver's own children.
Trooper Hanson said all six kids are related to each other.
Authorities released the driver after a blood draw.
She is due in court for an initial appearance this week.
