EAA AirVenture salutes veterans on Friday
OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) -- About 80 World War II veterans are leaving the Experimental Aircraft Association's annual convention in Oshkosh Friday morning for a quick trip to Washington, D.C., on board an Honor Flight.
They'll spend the day touring memorials and will be honored in a special ceremony when they return in the evening.
Also at AirVenture Friday are eight Tuskegee Airmen who are expected to share their memories of their time in World War II.
There will also be a re-creation of the attack on Pearl Harbor, with volunteers and aircraft of the Commemorative Air Force. It will include ground operations, maintenance, pilots and pyrotechnic experts.
Country singer Phil Vassar will perform in the evening.
