FOND DU LAC, Wis. (AP) -- A Fond du Lac memorial dedicated to emergency services personnel who died in the line of duty has been vandalized.

Police say the 900-pound granite memorial has been knocked off its base and the firefighters' tablet has been damaged. Fond du Lac Police Capt.

Steve Klein tells WLUK-TV (http://bit.ly/LOYnM0 ) the memorial is somewhat of a sacred place for public safety, especially law enforcement which lost three officers, most recently Craig Birkholz.

The memorial has been sent to Milwaukee for repairs which could cost $500 to $1,000. Fond du Lac Memorials is offering a $100 reward for information in the case.
