Teen run over, killed by school bus on Milwaukee's northwest side
MILWAUKEE- A 19-year old Milwaukee man is run over by a school bus on the city's northwest side.
As police investigate what happened, a family is torn apart.
ViAnna Jordan wants to know what happened to her 19-year old son Alexander Haskins.
It happened near 89th and Carmen.
The grieving mother was also hoping to see her son after learning he had died.
"I just wanted to touch my son while he's still warm," said Jordan, "because they tell me when I see him again he will be in the morgue."
Police tell TODAY'S TMJ4 there's conflicting information about what exactly happened, but the early indication is that Haskins was holding on to an open window when he fell and was run over by the bus.
15 kids and two basketball coaches were on the school bus, including a relative of Haskins. Police indicate he tried to grab onto the moving bus while he was allegedly responding to a conflict between a relative and someone else on the bus.
Alex's large family talked about his bright future.
"One of your nephews that anyone would always want," said Kevin Jordan, Haskin's uncle. "He wanted to be a police officer. He was a student at MATC."
Alex's mother is just trying understand why.
"Things were coming together. They were happening for him but no one's will is greater than God's."
Police have talked to the school bus driver. They say the driver did not do anything wrong and was not aware that someone was hanging onto the bus.
